Sony pushes PSP via DL kiosks
Holiday marketing for Sony's handheld includes PSP Spot Download Stations with free content, TV ads, and another giant billboard.Sony isn't just using the holidays to try to sell its PlayStation 3 console. The electronics giant has also announced a host of new marketing campaigns to boost interest in its handheld, the PlayStation Portable.
Of greatest interest to gamers who already own a PSP are new PSP Spot Download Stations, which will begin appearing in stores this month. The kiosks feature downloadable content for the PSP and will be stationed in participating stores of the following chains: Circuit City, Toys "R" Us, and GameStop. Sony expects 6,000 Download Stations to be in stores nationwide by January 2007.

In addition, Sony has rolled out a new television ad campaign aimed to show off the portable's multimedia functions. Titled "Find Me," the three ads follow a young man's quest to "find his love interest armed only with his PSP system and a 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo filled with her photos, videos, and music."
Sony has also launched a PSP RSS Web site and erected a giant PSP billboard on the Las Vegas Strip and is ramping up ads for the handheld online.
